Description: The article addresses the trajectory of the concept of gender over the last decades and the complexity that this category of analysis is acquiring in more recent times. It highlights the importance of incorporating the category of gender into the analysis of human rights, from the critique of androcentrism and the universal subject; the questioning of the dichotomy and hierarchy between the public sphere (masculine and political) and the private sphere (feminine and natural); the critique of a conception of only formal equality that does not lead to substantial equality by assuming the neutrality of law and human rights.
